Tucked away in Worli’s (Mumbai) newest culinary enclave — right between the buzz of Ode and the laid-back charm of Brunch & Cake — sits Nara Thai. I used to frequent their Colaba outpost, where the food felt like a direct flight to Bangkok, so I was eager to see how the new space would hold up. A short walk up the staircase leads you into an elegantly appointed dining room — equal parts polished and welcoming — where warm lighting, contemporary Thai art, and soft touches of lilac and gold offer an immediate sense of glamour.
The menu is a celebration of Thai flavors with just enough modern flair. A few standout dishes: the crispy betel leaf bites are vibrant and addictive, the raw papaya salad offers that perfect balance of heat and tang, and the vegetable spring rolls come wrapped in a delightfully crunchy shell. Don’t miss the morning glory stir-fried with garlic and served alongside perfectly steamed jasmine rice — it’s comfort food, elevated. And if you’re feeling indulgent, the soft-shell crab is a must-order: golden, crispy, and surprisingly light. End with their deconstructed mango sticky rice — a minimalist masterpiece of silky coconut cream, perfectly ripe mango, and warm, glutinous rice that tastes like summer in every bite.
While they’re still waiting on a liquor license, the mocktails unfortunately don’t do the food justice. We’d recommend sticking with a Thai iced tea or just hydrating like a minimalist queen with still water.
