A photo series by Rohit Srivastava depicts a day in the life of Azra, a gay man in India.
Rohit Srivastava is a National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, graduate and an independent filmmaker, music director and photographer. His photo series, Azra 3.0, highlights the life of Azra, a faceless identity who finds life’s mundane activities challenging due to his sexuality. The red colour on his body symbolises his inability to blend in with the crowd because his personality makes him stand out. While he’s conscious of himself when he’s outdoors, Azra sheds all inhibitions once he’s home.
“I wanted to portray a misfit who’s treated as an outcast by society,” says Rohit. “He feels victimised by social norms and dreads people judging him because of his peculiar traits.”
