Gucci Fall 2025: A Sexy Spin on Nostalgia

Gucci Fall 2025: A Sexy Spin on Nostalgia

As in life and in fashion, change is the only constant. With Sabato De Sarno’s departure just weeks ago, the Gucci Fall 2025 collection was brought to life by the brand’s internal design team—not their first time at the helm (post-Alessandro Michele’s abrupt exit in late 2022).

Unveiled in Milan, the Gucci Fall 2025 collection set the stage—literally—with a vast room reflecting shimmering interlocking Gs across the floors and ceilings, while a live orchestra played in the background. The Continuum collection felt like a love letter to Gucci’s archives. As the brand put it: A synthesis of eras is embraced in terms of silhouette, from the late 1960s – the inception of Gucci ready-to-wear – traversing the decades since. Yet, in the amalgam from mid-1990s minimalism to the more recent ultra-maximal, Gucci motifs unite and the melange means something new.”

This season, Gucci went co-ed on the runway, sending women in lace slips and pencil skirts (is sexy back?) alongside men in razor-sharp, monochrome suiting layered with outerwear and paired with mules. Fur and lace dominated—delicate slips, structured boxy coats, and silk scarves nonchalantly tied over baseball caps. As for the iconic Horsebit motif? Reinvented as a drop-chain necktie.

With baby pink leather skirt suits and A-line mini dresses, Gucci flirted with the Twiggy and Jackie O. eras, proving once again that the past is always ripe for reinvention.

“The collection could be seen as foundational, that says something of Gucci in its codes and beliefs both past, present, and future; things that have meant something to many, adopted and adapted in their own way.”—reads the press note.

Nostalgia is nice, but what Gucci really needs? A Tom Ford-esque shake-up—something with oomph, sex appeal, and unapologetic glamour to keep it ahead of the curve. With a new creative director announcement on the horizon, the real question is: Who will define Gucci’s next era?
