cM Review: Amanpuri, Phuket

The theme song of The White Lotus Season 3 played in my head as we pulled into Amanpuri, Phuket. The name—Sanskrit for “Place of Peace”—says it all. This is Aman’s original sanctuary, and from the moment you arrive, it’s clear: you’re not just checking into a resort, you’re stepping into a dream sequence. The vibe is hypnotic, the luxury quiet and cinematic. It’s like The White Lotus, minus the chaos and more luxe. Is Amanpuri your next Thailand escape? Let’s just say: if you know, you book.

Check in: 10/10

We checked into the Garden Pavilion—and let’s just say, it set the tone. The best part? Check-in happened in our room. No front desk small talk, no clipboard signatures under a ceiling fan. Just a cool towel, a warm welcome, and a seamless slide into serenity. If “Palace of Peace” felt like branding before, it was starting to feel very, very real.

Rooms: 10/10

The Garden Pavilion was less a hotel room, more a temple of quiet indulgence. Dark teak underfoot, vaulted ceilings overhead, and light filtering in just right—everything whispered calm. One detail we loved: the TV disappears behind a wooden panel, keeping the room blissfully screen-free (unless you want otherwise). Outside, the private patio with low-slung floor seating felt like it was made for barefoot mornings with coffee—or cocktails and soft conversation as dusk set in. This is what minimalist luxury should feel like.

Dining: 10/10

Amanpuri takes dining seriously—and deliciously. Whether you’re craving something bold or beautifully simple, there’s something for every palate (and then some). Nama, the Japanese restaurant, serves up pristine sushi and an impressive sake list, while Arva redefines Italian comfort food—don’t miss the steak. For spice lovers, Buabok is the heart of southern Thai cuisine, serving fiery, fragrant dishes right by the pool.

The experience doesn’t stop there. Nura brings sun-soaked Mediterranean flavors to the table, and the Sunset Terrace is the resort’s social heartbeat—best enjoyed with something chilled in hand as the sky turns sherbet over the Andaman Sea. Come evening, head to the Beach Terrace, where wood-fired pizzas, vibrant salads, and coastal Thai fare round off your day to the sound of waves and clinking glasses.

Every meal here feels like an occasion—unfussy, unforgettable.

Experiences: 10/10

Amanpuri’s experiences are deeply restorative, often quietly indulgent, and always memorable. The spa is a standout—anchored in Thai tradition, the treatments are guided by highly skilled practitioners. The Thai massage is perfect for opening up the body (especially after a long flight), while the deep tissue offering is equal parts healing and heavenly.

There’s a private beach for the ultimate do-nothing afternoon, but for those with restless energy—or kids—there’s a second beach area with water sports and activities. Multiple swimming pools are tucked throughout the property, so whether you’re after quiet sun-lounging or splashy family fun, there’s a spot for you.

Fitness here isn’t an afterthought. The gym spans two levels—cardio and strength machines upstairs, kickboxing below—and there are tennis courts for a sunrise match. But what elevates the stay beyond the expected is the team. The warmth of the staff and the personal attention from the GM make the entire stay feel seamless. Every night, we’d return to find a wooden puzzle toy waiting for the kids—small detail, big smile.

Check out: 10/10

You can track your bill anytime during your stay via the in-room iPad—seamless, efficient, and exactly what you want when you’re trying to sneak in one last swim before departure. And here’s where Amanpuri truly flexed: we were offered a late check-out… at 10PM. No stress, no extra charge—just a little more time in paradise. Other hotels, take note: the bar has been officially raised. A smooth send-off, wrapped in a box of chocolates and the kind of memories you’ll want to unpack again and again.

Final Thoughts:

Amanpuri, Phuket lingers. Long after the flight home, you’ll find yourself craving its hush—the gentle cadence of palm fronds, the soft rituals of arrival, the way even check-out feels like a warm farewell. It’s not just a resort; it’s a recalibration. If you’re headed to Phuket, consider this your invitation to exhale.
