Atlantis The Royal Maldives Is Coming in 2029

In 2029, the Maldives will get something wildly unexpected: Atlantis The Royal Maldives, a dual-island mega-resort that Kerzner International and Assets Group frame as a ‘nature-forward vision,’ not ‘Dubai goes snorkeling.’

The project lands in the South Malé Atoll. It’s a breezy 10-minute seaplane hop from the airport, and spreads across two full islands because apparently the Maldives needed a resort with its own Maldives. Together, they cover over 1.3 million square meters with more than 5.8 kilometers of beachfront.

Atlantis, But Through a Maldives Filter

Kerzner says this is not a copy-and-paste of the Dubai icon. Atlantis The Royal Maldives is being recast in island mode. Softer edges, calmer lines, sustainability baked into the blueprint. Coral restoration, smart energy systems, and architecture that supposedly “moves with the ocean.” Imagine Atlantis taking a deep breath and saying, “I’m entering my grounded era.”

Across its two islands: one focused on families, one unapologetically luxe. The resort will offer 493 keys, 20 dining options, two beach clubs, and a 70,000-square-meter Aquaventure waterpark. In the Maldives.

Wellness, But Dialled All The Way Up

Atlantis The Royal Maldives is leaning into a very specific kind of wellness. One that requires both an overwater yoga deck and a longevity clinic. There’s a botanical alchemy zone, a recovery studio, and a fitness centre that spills indoors and out.

Food, obviously

Atlantis signatures like Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom, and Ossiano, plus the usual mix of celebrity chefs, all-day dining, and a beach club lineup built for linen outfits and soft-launch breakups.

And the point of all this?

Atlantis The Royal Maldives wants to shift the Maldives from “honeymoon fantasy” to “full-spectrum luxury playground.” Families, food people, spa people, people who need a water slide to access joy. And everyone gets a lane.
