Archana Jaju Turns Summer Into A Mood

You know that version of summer that only really exists in your head? The one that feels somewhere between a memory and a mood? That’s exactly where Archana Jaju’s latest collection, A Summer Somewhere, lands. It’s not loud or overly referential. If anything, it feels like you’ve seen it before, in a dream.

At first glance, it’s all softness. Fluid silhouettes, washed-out florals, that slightly hazy, romantic energy. But then you realise it’s Kalamkari. The motifs: poppies, bougainvillea, wildflowers, make the designs soft and dreamlike. While the clothes themselves are easy in the way you want summer dressing to be. Kurta sets, capes, separates you don’t have to overthink. Nothing feels styled within an inch of its life, and that’s what makes it land. You could throw these on and they’d still feel effortless.

“I wanted to see what happens when my world meets a completely different landscape,” Archana Jaju says. “Europe gave me the flowers and the light, and India gave me the hand and the tradition.” And that balance comes through.

Even the palette leans away from the expected. Instead of bright, obvious summer tones, it sits in warmer, deeper shades of beige, red, fuchsia.

There’s no single standout piece here, no one look that’s trying to define the collection. It’s more about the overall feeling. Something relaxed, a little dreamy, and easy to come back to.
