Rohan Shrestha’s photography series of Raja Ampat’s marine life.
Raja Ampat is a photographer’s paradise and one of the best diving destinations in the world. Made up of around 1500 islands, the Four Kings, also known as the islands of Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati and Misool are the main islands of Raja Ampat.
This was my second trip, and definitely worth the all the flights I had to take to get there. I lived on a boat for two weeks and was surrounded by beauty – both under and above the pristine water. I swam with barracudas, saw hammered sharks, coral reefs, lion fish and so many more amazing creatures.
Diving is my form of mediation, you end up spending time looking at an eco system that’s so different from ours.
If you’re going there for the first time, make sure you have an advanced licence and you’re a reasonably good diver because Raja Ampat is a sight and you don’t want to miss a second of it.
