cM Review: Oleander Farms

I set out for Karjat with no expectations—I’ve done Alibaug, Lonavala, Kamshet, but never Karjat. An easy hour-and-a-half drive from Colaba to Oleander Farms, and honestly? That’s a win. If you live in Mumbai, you know that a weekend escape this close is the kind of luxury you don’t take for granted. No endless traffic snarls, no five-hour treks—just a straight shot into 180 acres of lush greenery, fresh air, and effortless relaxation. The city fades fast, and in its place? Space to breathe, unwind, and reset.

Check in: 9/10

Officially, check-in was at 2 PM, but we arrived at 1. From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and hospitality were undeniable. The general manager personally greeted us, and without a moment’s wait, we were whisked away to our room—no early check-in hassle, just effortless service.

Rooms: 9/10

We stayed in the Lake View Room, a spacious retreat with its own private balcony overlooking a serene lake framed by lush greenery. The bathroom? A dream—floor-to-ceiling windows offering an uninterrupted view of the bed and the water beyond. Waking up to that scene felt like an instant reset, as if all my worries dissolved with the morning mist.

Dining: 8/10

With three on-site restaurants—Saltt, Common House, and Saltt Café—you’re more than covered for a two-night stay. Standout dishes? The picante, truffle gnocchi, and a chocolate tres leches that we’re still thinking about. Common House also has its own brewery (yes, really), and they let you sample the beers before committing—always a good idea. The only letdown? Breakfast. Served in a banquet-style space with the same spread both mornings, it lacked the charm and freshness the rest of the property delivered so effortlessly.

Experiences: 10/10

This resort is perfect for a getaway with family or friends—especially when everyone has a different idea of fun. Start with a Sohum Signature couples massage by the incredible Celina and Judith (trust me, I’ve had my fair share of massages, and this one was next level). With yoga-like stretches incorporated mid-massage, it’s the kind of treatment that leaves you feeling completely renewed.

Beyond the spa, the activity list is impressively diverse: pickleball, padel, bowling, arcade games, vintage cars, wine and tea tastings, a scenic sunset point, plus a charming gift shop and even a flower shop. Whether you’re here to unwind or keep things lively, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of your stay.

Check out: 10/10

Just as seamless as check-in. A quick, fuss-free process, and we were on our way back to Mumbai in no time!

Final Thoughts:

This place strikes the perfect balance between relaxation and recreation. Whether you’re here for a quiet retreat or a fun-filled weekend, there’s something for everyone—from indulgent spa treatments to leisurely wine tastings and high-energy activities. Thoughtful hospitality, stunning lake views, and a well-curated dining experience make it an easy choice for a quick escape from Bombay. But overall? Oleander Farms is a getaway well worth taking. And—bonus—they have a helipad! Because why sit in traffic when you can arrive in style?
