Krishna and I headed to Fairmont Spa & Longevity in Mumbai on a Monday afternoon. Best Monday we’ve had in a while. Here’s what sets it apart; Blu Xone, India’s first luxury longevity hub, is built around the same principles as the world’s Blue Zones. Except it’s in Mumbai and significantly more glamorous. Treatments are built around your biology, guided by an in-house doctor, and designed to actually do something. We walked in curious. What followed was a doctor’s consultation, an aromatherapy massage that should be illegal, Le Labo in the showers, red light therapy that got genuinely trippy, ten minutes in the sauna, and a cryotherapy chamber we voluntarily entered twice. That night we slept like babies. Our bodies had simply, reset.

First, the Doctor
Before anything else, Fairmont Mumbai sits you down with their in-house doctor. Something that immediately sets the tone for what this place is actually about. This isn’t a spa menu you scroll through and pick based on aesthetics. The doctor walks you through your options, asks the right questions, and puts together a sequence that makes sense for your body specifically. We left that room feeling looked after before a single treatment had begun.

The Massage. Full Stop.
Post-consultation, we went straight into our aromatherapy massages and pure bliss is not an exaggeration. It is the only accurate description. I could feel my body surrender completely and for the first time in a long time, my brain went mercifully quiet. Afterwards, we showered and discovered that Fairmont Mumbai stocks Le Labo toiletries in the bathrooms, which at that point felt like a personal gift.
The Red Light Room
Red light therapy sounds clinical until you’re sitting beside it with a pair of black glasses on, twenty minutes stretching out in front of you with nothing to do but exist. The warmth builds gradually. By the end it was genuinely hot, in the best possible way. But here’s the thing nobody tells you: if you find yourself staring at the lights through those glasses long enough, it gets a little trippy. Not unpleasantly so. More like your brain decides to do something interesting with all that red. We both came out of that room in a state somewhere between deeply relaxed and mildly altered. Highly recommend.

The Cryotherapy Part
Here is the honest account. You change into a disposable gown. They hand you gloves, socks, ear muffs, a mask, and, crucially – Crocs. The Crocs feel absurd until the chamber door opens and you understand immediately why foot protection is non-negotiable. The excitement going in is real; the cold hits faster than you expect. The instructions are to keep moving, keep jogging. Your body needs to stay in motion. The first round lasted one minute. One minute. We came out buzzing, looked at each other, and went straight back in for a second round because something about it is genuinely addictive in a way that makes no logical sense but feels completely right. The second round: a full two minutes. Coming out of that chamber is one of the best feelings we’ve had in recent memory. Nothing like freezing in negative 84 degrees to remind you that you’re still alive.
The Morning After
Here’s what actually sold it. None of us slept properly in two to three months. That night, after the massage, the red light, and two rounds in the cryotherapy chamber, we both slept like we’d been reset. Deeply, completely, without interruption.
Blu Xone is part of Fairmont Mumbai’s wider longevity programme. Built around the philosophy of the world’s Blue Zones, where people live longer and better through a specific combination of lifestyle, movement, and community. The Mumbai version adds cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light, and more, all guided by medical practitioners, all tailored to you. There are annual wellness memberships for anyone sensible enough to want this on a regular basis. After one visit, we are already having that conversation.
